Unable to generate much offense against a rookie starting pitcher and five Reds relievers Monday, the Mets have managed just seven runs in the three losses after producing 26 in the three previous games.

The Mets had a chance in top of the 11th inning with runners at first and second and two outs after Jose Reyes and David Wright singled, but Ike Davis struck out against Nick Masset to end the threat. Davis hit a double, but went 1 for 5 and showed the first signs of frustration at the plate, #x which he attributed to missing some hittable fastballs.

“I’ve got to hit a fastball over the plate,”Shower curtainDavis said. “So that frustrates me.”
