Butdecorative fruitsas Nicholas Bakalar explains in today’s Science Times, you may want to take special care to wash your hands thoroughly after visiting the restroom.When researchers inspected bathrooms in 56 cruise ships, only four had top cleanliness scores in all the nooks and crannies, including doorknobs, toilet seats and handholds. Most of the remaining boats’ restrooms did not appear to be thoroughly cleaned on a daily basis. None of the baby-changing tables, for example, appeared to be cleaned in any of the three ships that had them.Since 2005, there have been 66 outbreaks of gastrointestinal illness causeddecorative fruitsprimarily by norovirus.
