Relatives who traveled to the mine said they were being put up at hotels outside the city and closely monitored by authorities.Security is often tight around mine-accident scenes because of official anxiety about anger from family members over questions about safety standards or compensation. Doctors said survivors were too weak to see visitors.An official from the mine's owner, Huajin Coking Coal Co., said in anSoftgelsinterview there were too many people in the town— rescue workers, officials, journalists and others—and too little accommodation.Prospects for further rescues appeared to dim Tuesday. State news service Xinhua said 32 of the 261 miners who were underground when the mine flooded nine days earlier, on March 28, hadn't been located. State-run China Central Television said they were believed to be in three parts of the mine that remained cut off by water.Li Shuyun,Energy saving lamp, whose husband, Tang Aijun—one of three brothers who worked at the mine—was among those brought out on Monday, said Mr. Tang called her at 11 p.m. that night to say he was in a hospital. He told her he had eaten tree bark from the mine's support beams as he struggled to survive in the darkness. Mr. Tang said: "I kept telling myself 'I can't die.
