Cafe curtain to be the nation's

Janett Herrero pointed to herCafe curtainand read her slogan, "'Located on the oldest street.' It's all over our menus and everything." Many people consider Aviles Street in downtown St. Augustine to be the nation's oldest street.

The brick road with its eateries, galleries and historic museum is one block from the bay front and the Bridge of Lions. Tour trains used to come down Aviles, but they don't anymore. Manny Herrero said that's one reason most tourists don't know about the street.

Most tourists, however, are more familiar with popular St. George Street, which is on the other side of theCafe curtainorsamurai swordscity square.
